The Psychogenealogist Pic of the Week (#14)
Every Friday The Psychogenealogist shares a "Pic of the Week." The intent is to encourage thought and imagination about the spaces where psychology, genealogy, and history converge.
This is the first in this Pic of the Week series that comes from my own personal stash of photos. The writing on the back of this picture is most likely in the hand of my great-grandmother Ida (Rhoads) Sears (1900-2002). It says: "Betty and Mike's 25th Anniversary in Flint, 1971"
Pictured in the middle are two of my great-grandmothers. Ida (blue dress) and Alma (Ratz) Hanley (1894-1979) (yellow dress). On the outside are a great aunt (Marguerite) and great uncle (Eddie), two of Alma's siblings.
The occasion was the 25th wedding anniversary for Mike and Betty, my paternal grandparents. Alma is Mike's mother and Ida is Betty's mother. It is a treat to see them together, hamming it up, and having a good time.
Besides bringing some color to this Pic of the Week series, this photograph brings some good humor and cheer. Quite a contrast to the darker Children of Leningrad from last week.
Do you have an old photograph or a genealogical story that you would like to share? I am happy to consider guest submissions for possible Pic of the Week or other blog posts in the future. Send an email to info@psychogenealogist.com for more information.
