Pic of the Week (#147) - "Dear Sisters" - Boulder Colorado Sanitarium
Every Friday The Psychogenealogist shares a "Pic of the Week." The intent is to encourage thought and imagination about the spaces where psychology, genealogy, and history converge.
This vintage postcard shows the “Boulder Colorado Sanitarium” in Colorado. Here is a helpful article describing it’s history.
The postcard is addressed to a
Miss Ethel Jayne
402 E. Lincoln
Blackwell, Okla.
The postcard is undated, has no postage stamp, and appears never to have been sent. It does, however, have a message on the back.
It reads:
Friday P.M. Oct.
Dear Sisters: My left lung is still pretty badly choked up. I have kept up until Thurs. P.M. I had not been going to doctor each day as I should have, but I hope I’ll be up in a few days. I am not running a temperature. I have my bed by the phone so I can take care of that. We are so rushed with the work. Dr. Gates was out this A.M. Think I’m a little better. Hope all of you are well. Will write again soon.
Love,
Nora and Ness (?)
The writing is quite legible, but I may have made a mistake or two. What do you think? This would be a great genealogical puzzle if anyone is interested. There are some great clues here.
