Unique Names in Genealogy - Week #3

Here is the Week #3 roundup of unique names in genealogy. You can find them daily on my Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles. Or you can find them in these weekly roundups. Enjoy!

Starlight Roberts

On October 5, 1937 Granville F. Travers married Starlight Roberts in Cleveland, Ohio. 💫

Sapphire Ellen Whited

“She hath done what she could”

Sapphire Ellen (Lowry) Whited (1826-1892) is buried at Alabama’s Valley Head Cemetery. Hers is a beautiful and more common first name than I would have guessed.

Lonesome Barr

”Lonesome Barr” was the mother of the bride in this 1958 Virginia wedding.

Kermit Green

It’s not easy, being him ... 🎶

Gumbo Blackwell

Gumbo Blackwell (1898-1968) died at the age of 69 in Gadsden, Alabama.

Rose Bush

Rose Bush is buried at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Valley City, North Dakota. There are over 180 similarly named women on the Find a Grave website. I’m guessing most of them are married and not maiden surnames? I think its a beautiful name! 🌹🥀🌹

Carnival Bernard

In March of 1972 Carnival Bernard (born on August 9th, 1927 in British Honduras) petitioned to change his name to Ernest Carnival Lawrence. He came to the U.S. in 1957 and settled in Los Angeles, California.

Do you have any of these in your family tree? Which one is your favorite?
