Pic of the Week (#128) - Janis and Steven - May 1, 1955

Every Friday The Psychogenealogist shares a "Pic of the Week." The intent is to encourage thought and imagination about the spaces where psychology, genealogy, and history converge.

Vintage photographs of children, like this one, are some of my most popular blog posts. Here are two sweet 1950s kids, presumably siblings. According to the note on the back this is Janis and Steven on Janis’s 5th birthday, May 1, 1955.

I don’t have any other information about them but with a first name, a birthdate, and possibly a brother’s name, there is at least some chance we could find someone connected to these people.

This found photo (eBay) of an adorable thumb sucking one year old girl is identified as “Emily Waugh”. Born Emily Louise Irons, this is her story.

How old does an item have to be to be considered and artifact or heirloom? I would argue that is painting, done in 2011, already meets the requirement. It is a watercolor of our daughter, painted by her great “granny”, Muriel Joy Gregory Petit (1930-2014).
