This distinguished looking gentlemen was a recent eBay acquisition. I love his smile and relaxed posture as he sits in his ornate chair. He is identified on the back of the photo as “Abraham Yerger”.
Additional notes on the back identify Abraham as “great grandfather” with his descendants as:
John F. M. Yerger
Nevin R. Yerger
Given the notations on the back it seems as if a child of Nevin’s identified the lineage. Abraham was this person’s 2nd great grandfather.
There is some extensive information available about the Yerger family on Ancestry and Find a Grave. They both suggest that Abraham Yerger (1822-1909) was a lifetime resident of Pennsylvania. He is buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Boyertown, PA.
You can click through the various memorials connected to his to see his extended family tree.

Learning about where your family ate, drank, smoked, or celebrated can be as meaningful as knowing where they married, prayed, or were buried. My great grandfather, Arthur Bryan Myers Sears (1900-1965) dined at The Blackhawk Restaurant in Chicago, IL one 1950s evening with his colleagues. He likely had The Spinning Salad Bowl.
