Family History Artifact of the Day Challenge - May, 2020

It is time to re-energize my family history research, writing, and sharing.

Want to join me?

I invite you to the “Family History Artifact of the Day Challenge” for every day in the month of May, 2020.

What is an artifact? For purposes of this challenge it can be whatever you want it to be, as long as it has some meaningful connection to your family genealogy or ancestral story.

It could be any number of things, but here are some ideas to get you started:

photograph, book, teapot, bible, quilt, rolling pin, piece of jewelry, pocket watch, piano, lamp, letter, painting, walking stick, camera, spittoon, saddle, vase, lamp, journal, camera, fishing pole, silverware, hammer, armoire, rosary, t-shirt, or any other type of heirloom you can imagine!

It can really be anything! All that matters is that it tells some part of your family’s story.

Here is how you can participate.

Take a photo of the object you would like to share and write about its connection to your family history. You can write as little as just a label or as much as you are able. Have questions about your object? Ask away!

The goal I am setting for myself is is to do one post a day for the entire month of May.

Don’t want to do one every day? No worries. Share one whenever the inspiration hits.

I will be posting mine on The Psychogenealogist Facebook Page. I will also share it on the Friends of The Psychogenealogist group. This is a private Facebook group where YOU can share your posts.

The group does require permission to join, so If you haven’t already done so please sign up so you can post, read, and comment on what everyone is sharing!

I will have my first post up on Friday May 1, 2020. As we go along you might get some inspiration from others too.

There is no “right” way to do this, so feel free to be creative. I can’t wait to see what you have to share!
