Find Their Story #9
What a sweet image of two young girls enjoying a sunny day on a porch under the shade of a parasol.
I purchased this image at one of my favorite antique stores here in Michigan, Antiques Market of Williamston. The photo was in a sealed protective sleeve so I took a chance on it without seeing if there was writing on the back. To my delight, there was!
It reads:
Sept. 13, 1899
Mary Taft 5 yrs. old
Grace Jefferson 3 1/2 yrs. old
Given the different last name it seems unlikely these girls are sisters. Cousins? Neighbors perhaps? There is a good chance we will never know for sure. Unfortunately there is no clue as to location. If you could find a “Mary Taft” born around 1894 and a “Grace Jefferson” born around 1895 or 1896 somehow connected that might be a start.
I encourage you to share what you discover! Feel free to comment below or reach out via email.
